Kosovo is the country with the youngest population in Europe. More than 70 percent of its people are under the age of 35, it has the demographic make-up that every country dreams of. Through the Stabilization and Association Agreement, Kosovo offers free access to the EU market, and low labor costs in comparison to Central and Eastern Europe, but also compared with neighboring countries, owing to a young population.
Kosovo has the highest concentration of German speakers in the world, after the DACH countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
The high level of language skills among the workforce of Kosovo is one of the country’s major competitive advantages over its regional competitors. 28.2% of the population speaks one foreign language and 15.9% more than one foreign language.
The chemical industry is one of the important branches of the modern economy and its products are used in other sectors of the economy, such as agriculture, manufacturing, construction and services.
Sub-sector “Manufacture of chemical products”, in 2020 had 762 employees in 114 enterprises, and an annual turnover of 31.93 million euros. In 2020, all three indicators have a positive increasing trend. An increase of 22.12% was marked in employment, an increase of 34.12% in the number of enterprises, and 14.83 % in annual turnover compared to 2019.
Exports in the sub-sector “Manufacture of chemical products”, has increased in 2020 by more than 100% compared to 2019. This sector had an increase of 39.09% last year compared to the previous year.
Imports in the sub-sector “Manufacture of chemical products”, has made a slight increase in 2020, by 8.03%, and in 2019 by 5.01, compared to the previous year.
Exports to EU countries are 64.66%, to CEFTA countries 33.63%, to EFTA countries 1.49% and to other countries 0.22%.
