Dear Members and Partners,
August was an active month for KDWV, marked by dialogue with municipalities across Kosovo and continued preparations for the 3rd German-Kosovar Economic Forum, taking place on 28–29 October 2026 in Prishtina.
A central focus of the month was our engagement with mayors and municipal representatives in Prishtina, Prizren, Suhareka and Gjilan. These meetings focused on strengthening economic cooperation between Kosovo and Germany, promoting local investment potential and identifying practical opportunities for businesses in different regions of Kosovo.
The German-Kosovar Economic Forum was at the heart of these discussions. We explored how municipalities and their business communities can benefit from the Forum by connecting with German companies, investors and institutional partners. Particular attention was given to industrial and economic zones, local development priorities, investment opportunities and the potential for long-term bilateral partnerships.
These visits confirmed once again that economic cooperation must extend beyond the capital. Kosovo’s municipalities offer significant potential in manufacturing, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, technology and other sectors. Through the Forum, we aim to bring these opportunities closer to German partners and create connections that can develop into concrete projects and investments.
Throughout August, KDWV also continued its dialogue with institutions, member companies and partners to improve the business environment, support the private sector and strengthen the bridge between the Kosovo and German markets.
We concluded the month with our annual Sommerfest, bringing together members, partners and friends of KDWV in a relaxed atmosphere. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect after the summer period, exchange ideas and enter the coming months with renewed energy. We thank everyone who joined us and contributed to making the evening special.
With the Forum now only weeks away, preparations are entering their final phase. The programme, speakers and participating companies are coming together, and we look forward to sharing more updates very soon.

This Month at KDWV – Key Highlights
Connecting Investors, Institutions and Renewable Energy Projects in Kosovo 🇽🇰🇩🇪
On 3 August, GIZ and the German-Kosovar Business Association signed a new grant agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation and supporting renewable energy investment in Kosovo.
The initiative brings together German investors, Kosovar institutions, financial partners and renewable energy project developers through investment forums, stakeholder roundtables and targeted business matchmaking.
By increasing the visibility of investment-ready projects and facilitating dialogue on regulatory and financing requirements, the project aims to transform Kosovo’s renewable energy potential into concrete investments and lasting German-Kosovar partnerships.
The project “Support to the Climate and Energy Transition Partnership” is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by GIZ.
Closing August with Good Conversations and New Connections ☀️
At the end of August, OEGJK brought together its members and partners for Sommerfest 2026, a relaxed evening filled with music, food and opportunities to build new connections.
The evening offered a chance to reflect on our work and cooperation so far, while also exchanging ideas about the initiatives and opportunities ahead.

Strengthening Economic Cooperation with the Municipality of Prishtina
On 18 August, KDWV met with the Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, to discuss the German-Kosovar Economic Forum 2026 and the role of the capital in creating new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
The discussion focused on connecting businesses and institutions from Kosovo and Germany, attracting investment and strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors.
As Kosovo’s main economic centre, Prishtina has an important role in supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable growth and a more competitive business environment.
Meeting with the Mayor of Prizren
On 12 August, during a meeting with the Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, we discussed local economic development, opportunities for young people and attracting more German investment.
Special attention was given to the 3rd German-Kosovar Economic Forum 2026 as a platform connecting businesses and institutions from Kosovo and Germany, as well as to the economic zone near ITP Prizren.
Meeting with the Mayor of Suhareka
On 12 August, we concluded the day with a meeting with the Mayor of Suhareka, Bali Muharremaj, to discuss the municipality’s economic potential, private-sector development and opportunities for attracting new investment.
The discussion also covered Suhareka’s Industrial Park and Agrozone, as well as the German-Kosovar Economic Forum 2026 as an opportunity to connect local businesses with German companies and investors.
Connecting Business with Community Development
How can stronger ties between businesses and local communities create lasting change?
On 4 August, OEGJK welcomed representatives of the Community Development Fund (CDF) for an exchange focused on ongoing initiatives and potential areas of cooperation.
Entrepreneurship, social support and sustainable development were highlighted as areas where closer coordination and private-sector engagement could create greater impact for businesses, communities and citizens across Kosovo.
Made in Kosovo, Competing Across Europe
We visited KIVO Kosovo and met with Visar Ramajli to learn more about the company’s development, future plans and contribution to strengthening economic and trade connections between Kosovo and European markets.
Since beginning operations in 2015, KIVO has grown into one of Kosovo’s leading manufacturing success stories. With more than 160 employees and almost its entire production exported to European markets, the company demonstrates the strength and competitiveness of Kosovo’s manufacturing sector.
Its investments in advanced technology, workforce development and high production standards are complemented by a strong commitment to sustainability through solar energy, modern production processes and recycled materials.
From Renewable Energy Potential to German Investment
On 10 August, KDWV and GIZ began a new joint project aimed at supporting Kosovo’s energy transition and creating stronger pathways for German investment in the renewable energy sector.
The project will connect Kosovo’s growing clean-energy potential with German financial resources, technical expertise and business know-how.
Through this partnership, KDWV and GIZ are working to turn renewable energy potential into concrete cooperation and new investment opportunities.
From a Family Business to a Regional Automotive Company
Founded in Prizren in 1994, Burak has grown from a family-run business into a regional automotive company operating across Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia.
Today, the company works with around 14 premium automotive brands from Germany, France and other European markets, while continuing to expand its activities in truck parts, industrial oils, motorcycles and regional markets.
Burak’s journey demonstrates how family tradition, specialization and strong international partnerships can support sustainable regional growth.
Economic Diplomacy in Support of the Forum
KDWV welcomed Mr. Bimbashi, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Kosovo in Austria, for a discussion on the German-Kosovar Economic Forum 2026, international economic cooperation and the role of economic diplomacy in promoting Kosovo’s potential.
The meeting highlighted the importance of Kosovo’s diplomatic missions in building connections with international business communities, attracting partners and investors and strengthening Kosovo’s presence within European economic networks.
Improving the Business Environment with ARBK
KDWV met with Ms. Tërnava, Head of the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (ARBK), to discuss closer cooperation, clearer communication with businesses and practical solutions to challenges companies may face during registration and administrative procedures.
Through continued dialogue with ARBK, KDWV aims to help identify challenges faced by member companies and contribute to making business procedures in Kosovo easier and more efficient.

Diaspora Networking Event: Together, Beyond Borders!

Important Notice for Businesses: Employee Registration in EDI
Following the official notice issued by the Tax Administration of Kosovo on 20 August 2026, employers are required to register their current employees in the electronic EDI system by 31 October 2026.
Information required includes employment dates, job position and profession, education level, working hours and other information requested in the EDI form.
Every new employee must be registered in EDI at least one day before beginning employment.
Failure to comply may result in a €500 fine for each undeclared employee.
KDWV encourages all member companies to complete the registration within the prescribed deadline and keep their employee information updated.

The Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund (KCGF) and ProCredit Bank Kosovo have signed an agreement to implement the Green Deposit, an instrument designed to increase financing for green investments by businesses in Kosovo.
