Kosovo is the country with the youngest population in Europe. More than 70 percent of its people are under the age of 35, it has the demographic make-up that every country dreams of. Through the Stabilization and Association Agreement, Kosovo offers free access to the EU market, and low labor costs in comparison to Central and Eastern Europe, but also compared with neighboring countries, owing to a young population.
Kosovo has the highest concentration of German speakers in the world, after the DACH countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
The high level of language skills among the workforce of Kosovo is one of the country’s major competitive advantages over its regional competitors. 28.2% of the population speaks one foreign language and 15.9% more than one foreign language.
In Kosovo, there are currently 111 private enterprises engaged in the manufacture of textiles with 629 employees and a turnover value of 15.38 million euros. The majority of them are manufacturers of final products. In this subsector there is considerable space for investors.
Textile products from Kosovo are mostly exported to the EU countries and CEFTA countries.
Exports in the subsector “Manufacture of Textiles”, in 2019, increased by 28.34%, while in 2018, there was a decrease of 1.11%, compared to 2017.
Of the total number of enterprises of Sector-C, there are 0.29% exporting enterprises in the subsector “Manufacture of Textiles”, while within this subsector, out of 111 enterprises, 11.71% are exporting ones.
